The holiday season is a time of joy, celebration, and reflection. It’s a time we get to fill our hearts with gratitude on the relationships we’ve made this year, and the amazing opportunities they brought. We are not alone, as we think about our humanity and the art we strive to create. Relating our being and work to others is really at the heart of what it means to exist in the world. The spirit of creativity and power of ensemble dancing brings a fullness to our lives and The Lovelies’ work. At The Lovelies, we are committed to providing classes, performances, and events that bring people together through the power of spontaneous ensemble dancing – not just during the holidays, but throughout the year. This year we:
Deepened our connections in Ohio, Georgia, and Pennsylvania through touring.
Proclaimed the gospel of Compositional Improvisation by teaching over 50 classes at schools.
Partnered with the Dance for Parkinson's disease community to perform at Mark Morris Dance Center alongside choreographers John Hegginbotham and Mark Morris.
Curated a 3-week long improvisational festival called Never Before Never Again at Triskelion Arts in NYC for Jan 2020.
Lovingly hosted our mentors, Jennifer Kayle and Pamela Vail, at an all-day idea exchanging conference called PICI!
As we keep pushing ourselves within the work, we hope that we create an appreciation and then a devotion to collaborating in the present moment. We want to keep noticing and responding more! That's why we're participating in Giving Tuesday this 2019! Please keep us in your mind, in your hearts this Giving Tuesday - - our singular annual appeal for private donations. The Lovelies is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non‐profit arts service organization. Online donations can be easily made at the link below. Contributions for the charitable purposes of The Lovelies must be made payable to “Fractured Atlas” with "The Lovelies" written in the note line of your check and are tax‐deductible to the extent permitted by law. Donations can be made all year round!
